GALA 2024: CELEBRATING Japan Sat., April 27, 2024, 5:30 pm
Our program will tell the story from 1942 (Japanese internment camp in Granada, CO/Amache National Historic Site) to the present Japanese American culture and their economic and cultural leadership in Denver. What could be more springlike, hopeful, and relevant than honoring our winners, smelling cherry blossoms, sharing a meal, and learning more about the Amache Remembrance Rose? Join us.

Individual Tickets: $160/pp (includes program, auction, one drink ticket, dinner, appetizers, and parking)
Table of 10: $1500 (includes program, auction, one drink ticket per seat, dinner, appetizers, gift for table captain, and parking for 10)

Renowned local chef Andrew Radenbaugh has created a delicious menu for our event to celebrate community and authentic Asian cuisine. (Vegan and GF choices).

ATTIRE: Festive (not black/white tie)
PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY: We are including parking in your ticket cost this year so it is FREE to you. The DCIS Foundation will pay $10/car so please carpool if you can.
SECURITY: To ensure the safety of our guests and the event, we are required to pay for a security guard at our event. No covid masking restrictions.

TRIPS: This year we are partnering with Travel Culture (owned by Alumnus Freya Quist) to bring you two curated, cultural tours to Guatemala (History, Artifacts, Food, and Sightseeing) and Costa Rica (Nature, Excursions, Tastings, and Sightseeing). More details on our website and coming soon when the online auction opens on April 14. Other trips include The Ultimate Family Getaway (4 choices on locations), Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and Vail. There is something for everyone this year!

GALA 2022 RESULTS: Italy
GALA 2022 Invitation and theme
A few people attended the Met Gala in NYC on Saturday, April 30, but the most important people of all attended the DCIS Foundation Spring Gala 2022 at History Colorado Center in Denver. All 160 attendees dressed to impress.
It was a lovely evening reconnecting with old friends, chatting on the terrace, eating family-style, playing games, having bidding wars, and watching the program and awards.
The circle chart to the right gives you a feel for categories and percentages of money raised. DCIS Foundation raised $45,578 and once we take out expenses, we cleared $25,353 to help DCIS students to travel and participate in intercultural experiences. Thank you for helping us create amazing global citizens.

Watch this: SPRING GALA 2021 Honorary Chairs Brady Efting (Former teacher and Gold Sponsor) and Gerardo Muñoz (Colorado 2021 Teacher of the Year) kicked off the event.
RESULTS from our April 24, 2021 SPRING GALA event: We reconciled our accounts and wanted to share the SPRING GALA results with you.
230+ people watched our virtual program – families gathered and many viewers tuned in from other states and countries. Cool!
We raised $35,000 for student scholarships, teacher grants, and DCIS projects. Yes!
We shared video interviews of students, alumni, teachers, and leaders. Insightful!

We sold 73 of the 75 silent auction treasures. Wow!
We sold 6 trips to fabulous locations around the world (3-yr window to use). Fantastic!
We gave 4 prestigious awards to gracious thought-leaders. Congrats to them!
Volunteers delivered 84 MEALS+GIFT bags to donor homes. Phew!
We celebrated DCIS including our donors, Alumni Leadership Council, and the Council of Advisors. Muito Obrigado!

BOARD STRATEGY MEETING
SUMMER: 2023
Location: Meeting space (invite only)
11:30 am - 1:00 pm
What to Expect: This is an invite-only event for the Board of Directors, Council of Advisors, VIP, and guest speakers (DCIS students and community members). This is a yearly meeting to review successes, approve the budget, discuss strategy and yearly goals. It is also an opportunity to interview and engage potential board and council members. This event is a special “thank you” for those who are most involved in our mission and kicks off the fiscal year for the foundation. 谢谢 Xièxiè.

YEAR-END FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
FALL/WINTER: Oct-Dec 2023
This annual fundraising campaign combines mailers, email marketing, website options and Colorado Gives Day all into one so that the requests for donations are customized for our community. We especially need your donations this year. Our goal: $15,000; Our result: $15,000. Well done donors!

This is our main fundraising event to benefit DCIS schools. It is an in-person event (with a virtual option) that is informative and fun!
GALA

What to Expect: This event typically hosts about 200+ attendees, including local business leaders, local hot-shots (alumni), dignitaries, and community families and leaders who love our mission and look forward to hearing the latest about our progress and celebrating with us each year.
Our Gala will feature music, awards, student stories (and recent videos), teacher thoughts, interviews, multilingual insights, an auction (including trips and experiences), delicious hearty food stations, cocktails, prizes, gifts, and more. A real sense of warmth and community and the makings for a perfect Saturday evening. Join us.
Why Come? This is our most important fundraiser of the year. This gala enables to us provide funding to DCIS schools to send hundreds of students (K-12) on excursions to augment the classroom. Our younger students might do an overnight at the Denver Aquarium (beginner), middle school students (intermediate) might go to Canyonlands, UT, and high school students often travel internationally (advanced). These educational travel experiences have an impact and change lives. Please join us. Elegante!

DCIS BACK-TO-SCHOOL EVENTS
LATE SUMMER: August/September 2023
Location: DCIS schools
Each school celebrates back-to-school in a different way, right? We engage with them all. At some schools, we donate to the PTSO and help fund the event. At our location, you’ll see games, goodies, ample DCIS Foundation information, and a chance to talk to alumni. This is a great opportunity for us to recruit volunteers and board members. These school-specific events are a great way to start the school year and get information about the upcoming scholarship season, and say Au Revoir to summer.
What happened in 2020?
Our virtual walkathon was a great success and a good activity during COVID restrictions. Check out the map below (see anyone you know?) and videos to get a feel for the action.
So how will the donations from the WALKATHON be used?
$4650 was donated it was used to support our mission.
T-shirts were FREE with registration.
